Wojo’s 4th Annual Frog Jumping Contest! Ortonville Sat. August 2nd, 10 a.m. Davison Sat. August 2nd, 10 a.m. Come and enjoy all the excitement and fun of a frog jumping contest. Bring your own frog or use one of ours. Prizes will be awarded for largest and fastest frog. Contest will be set up so that adults will compete against other adults and children will compete in classes determined by age. Please register for this event. FREE to all participants.
JUNE 2008 EVENTS
Rustic Twig Class Presenter: Bim Willow Ortonville Sat June 28th 10 a.m. Davison Sun. June 29th 10 a.m. Join us as we welcome Master Furniture Builder Bim Willow. Learn how to mold and bend fresh twigs, sticks and willow into heirlooms. Build a project of your choice (project selection sheet available in store). Share in the satisfaction of crafting function from nature. Come with a hammer and pruning shears. All materials included; advance registration and project selection required. FEE based on project.
Cooking with Herbs Presenter: Noonie Kowalski Ortonville Sat June 7th 10 a.m. Davison Sat. June 7th 2 p.m. Join Noonie Kowalski, a master gardener, in this fun and hands on class. Greenhouse Tour Tour Guide: Owner Joe Wojciechowski Ortonville Sat. May 3rd, 9a.m. & 2p.m. 25 years ago Wojo’s began as a roadside vegetable stand that has today grown into 2 beautiful Garden Centers. See how and where plants are seeded, grown and cared for by our talented staff. Tours lasts approximately 1 hour. Registration is not necessary but appreciated. FREE
Create a Container Presenter: Sara Martin Ortonville Sat. May 3 rd. 10 a.m. Davison Sat. May 3rd, 2pm Sara Martin, Michigan Certified Nurseryman Sara, first became interested in container gardening during her apartment dwelling days. Now she buys containers, soils and garden décor for our Davison store. Sara will discuss the latest trends in container gardening, including, foliage, flowers, vegetables and herbs. She will provide you with fresh ideas for all types of containers, hanging baskets, pottery, and window boxes. Tips on fertilizing and watering requirements to keep your containers looking their best throughout the season will be provided. Bring your own container or purchase one of ours for this hands on class. Selected plant material will be included. Register by phone or in person. FEE $20.00 APRIL 2008 EVENTS
Plant a Strawberry Jar Presenter: Susan Bork Ortonville: Sat. April 19th 10 a.m. Davison: Sat. April 19th 2 p.m. Create a stunning strawberry jar planter with the help of Master Gardener Susan Bork. Susan will give great ideas on spring, summer and fall plantings of your strawberry jar. Also she will demonstrate the use of perennial succulents, and strawberries in a strawberry jar. Holiday Centerpiece Presenter: Kevin Westrick Ortonville Sat. Dec. 8th , 10 a.m. and again at 2 p.m. Join Kevin as he helps you create a beautiful evergreen centerpiece for the holidays. You will learn about different types of fresh evergreens and how to combine them with berries and decorations for a unique and festive arrangement to enjoy at home throughout the season. This workshop fills up fast, so it is recommended to register early in person or by phone. $20.00 fee.

Seasonal Container Workshop Presenter :Kevin Westrick Ortonville Sat. Nov. 17th 10 a.m. Just in time for the Holiday Season, this class will assist you on how to continue to use your outdoor containers through the winter. Bring in your container or use one of ours, and Kevin will help you create a distinctive and festive arrangement for the holiday season. All supplies provided. Putting the Garden to Rest Presenters : Kitty Byron and George White Ortonville Sat. Oct. 6th, 10 a.m. Davison Sat. Oct. 6th, 1 p.m. Learn from experienced Wojo’s employees the correct way to clean up your garden for the winter. Our staff will discuss what perennials to cut back and how to do it. Winter care for your roses will also be presented. This class will help ensure a successful garden the next year. Hand-outs will be available Register in person or by phone.
SEPTEMBER 2007 EVENTS
The Cutting Edge – Arranging cut flowers from your garden Presenter: Kevin Westrick Ortonville Sat. Sept. 22nd, 1p.m. Davison Sat. Sept. 15th, 1 p.m. Kevin Westrick, who holds a horticultural degree from Michigan State University and has numerous years of experience as a cut flower grower, will present this workshop. He will share information on the most productive and easiest plants to grow in your garden, for cut flower arrangements. Kevin will lead a hands on demonstration of harvesting the flowers and arranging them in a hand tied bouquet. Each attendee will create their own arrangement. A local Master Gardener with many years in the Nursery business, Susan also cultivates her own gardens with the intent of welcoming these little treasures. Our owner Joe Wojciechowski will personally escort you through the business he began over 20 years ago. You’ll see high tech watering, temperature control systems, how flats are filled with soil, and how seeds are planted, not to mention lots of fantastic flowers and plants. Presenters : Lisa Kemeny Saturday, April 21st, 1 p.m. at Davison Location Saturday, April 28th, 2 p.m. at Ortonville Location Lisa Kemeny has been a designer for over 6 years now and is the perennial manger at our Ortonville location. Lisa will help you design a garden that will look great thru all the seasons. Bring pictures and dimensions of the garden you would like designed. There is a $20.00 fee. Space is limited. Joe is the head grower of plants for Wojo’s and was a vegetable farmer for over fifteen years. He will share with you some tips on how vegetable plants respond to different fertilizer treatments and outline water requirements for optimal growth, flavor and texture of your vegetables.
